North Cork Extension

The Challenge To develop a large dwelling incorporating the existing farm house, on the site of an existing vacant dwelling.
The Solution The proposed development incorporates the existing farmhouse, the fulcrum of the house to be used as a living and sleeping zone while separating 2no living zones within this large complex. The added extensions are laid out in courtyard fashion to provide shelter and capture the views over the landscape to the south and west. The entire dwelling is designed to emulate a farmyard complex, with elements and layout similar to the agricultural buildings to the east. The narrow plan forms are linked together through one main hallway creating infill courtyards between each annex.
