South Tipperary Extension
The Challenge To add a substantial modern extension to existing dwelling while incorporating existing derelict outhouses on a prominent site.
The Solution A new modern 2 storey extension was added orientated from north to south. The narrow plan form of the extension integrates well to the traditional proportions of the buildings. The first floor of the extension cantilever's over the south facing glazed wall passively providing solar shading to prevent overheating. The use of these modern materials replicates the local rusted red corrugated farm sheds roof in the local area.
